City of Music Career Day is a one-day educational program that provides high school juniors and seniors and college students direct access to music industry professionals through networking, experiential learning, engaging workshops, and performance. Student participants are exposed to a wide range of career opportunities in music including performance, management, concert production, arts organizations, record label operations, retail, licensing, journalism, broadcasting, and more!

All events take place at EMP Museum, the Vera Project and Armory Lofts at Seattle Center. Participants will check in at EMP Museum and will be directed to the appropriate venues following the Welcome Address.
Attendees may check in at any time prior to the 9am Welcome Address. Be sure to bring your permission slip, signed by a parent or guardian if under 18.

The artist panel features working musicians from various aspects of the Seattle scene. Designed for participants interested in creating music as a career, the discussion will center on how musicians make it in today’s ever-changing landscape.

The event will culminate with closing remarks from music commissioner Jon Stone, followed by a special live performance and discussion with a few of Seattle’s own success stories, providing a rocking end to the day.

Since its #2 Billboard Top 200 debut, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ debut album The Heist has reached platinum sales, sold 20+ million singles, and earned the Seattle-based hip-hop duo four GRAMMY Awards including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Collaboration. Along with two #1 hits under his belt, the premier hip-hop producer and music video director has performed on Saturday Night Live and on nearly every late night TV show. The Seattle-based artist has also garnered attention in the NY Times, NPR, USA Today, TIME, graced the cover of Billboard, and was named Billboard's Producer of the Year.
In April of 2014 Ryan Lewis launched the 30/30 Project with his mother Julie Lewis, a 30-year HIV Survivor. The campaign seeks to build healthcare facilities in communities impacted by HIV/AIDS that will sustain for at least 30 years. Since the launch, the 30/30 Project has funded the construction of clinics in Nsambe, Malawi, and Kangundo and Mbita in Kenya bringing healthcare access to over 250,000 people.
Zach Quillen helms the management team behind multiple Grammy Award winning hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Quillen got his start in the industry working at local music venues while attending Florida State University. After graduation, he moved to NYC to work as a booking agent at The Agency Group booking a roster of premiere hip-hop acts. In 2009, he began booking Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
In 2010, after 10 years at The Agency Group, Quillen took a leap of faith and relocated from NYC to Seattle to manage Macklemore & Ryan Lewis full time. Over the past 5 years, Quillen and his tight-knit team have been responsible for launching the careers of one of the most innovative and popular hip-hop duos of today. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are Quillen’s sole management client, he overseas all aspects of the duo’s career, including touring, licensing, publishing, production, manufacturing, radio, etc. allowing Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to remain 100% self-funded and completely independent.
Drawing from an eclectic palette of musical influences, Shaprece's latest artistic direction ranges from electronic beats to orchestral arrangement, soulful vocals to ambient soundscapes. Blending digitally altered tones with sultry and smoky vocals, she has aspired to create a category to call her own. Throughout the creative process, she's gathered inspiration from the likes of Bjork, Little Dragon, and Aaliyah, among others, forming a pleasant fusion of dreamy melodies and atmospheric sounds.
Shaprece, along with electro-ambient producer IG88, has been working on new material for the better part of 2014 in her hometown of Seattle, WA. Also involved with the composition and arrangement of the project have been Phillip Peterson (A$AP Rocky/Florence + The Machine, P!NK, Santigold), and Daniel Butman, both brought in for strings and other orchestral elements. The album has been recorded back and forth between IG88’s home studio and the legendary Robert Lang Studios.
In March 2014 she released the first taste of the new direction, a double-single called "Tell Me // Her Song" ahead of her SXSW dates. Following up on those tracks she dropped the Molting EP in July heading into her appearances at summer and fall festivals such as The Capitol Hill Block Party, Bumbershoot, Rifflandia and CMJ. For those performances she garnered recognition and praise from the likes of KEXP, the Seattle Weekly, SPIN and The New York Times, as well as landed the August 2014 cover of City Arts magazine.
Hollis Wong-Wear is a writer, performer and creative producer. She is one-third of The Flavr Blue, is featured on “White Walls” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the Operations Director for Blue Scholars, a teaching artist with Youth Speaks, half of hip hop duo Canary Sing and vox of acoustic R&B outfit The Heartfelts.
Justin Hare AKA Just D’amato or Justo is a producer and rapper in Seattle hip-hop group The Physics. He’s handled production for all of the group’s albums since their inception in 1997 and is responsible for helping give the trio what many consider the classic Seattle hip-hop sound. He currently works as a studio producer and engineer at Purple Door Studios (home of multi-platinum selling producer Jake One) and lists highly acclaimed artists such as Talib Kweli, Wale, Mayer Hawthrone, Joey Badass, Blue Scholars, Mac Miller, and Brother Ali among those whose music he’s helped engineer. When he’s not handling engineering duties for other artists, he’s hard at work finishing The Physics’ next album due out this summer.
Dr. Quinton Morris
Dr. Quinton Morris enjoys a multifaceted career as concert violinist, educator and entrepreneur. He has performed solo recitals and concerti and chamber music around the world: the United States, the Middle East, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa. Career highlights include solo guest appearances with the Seattle Symphony, three consecutive years of sold out recitals at Carnegie Hall, eleven years as Artistic Director of The Young Eight String Octet, a visiting research scholar post at the University of Texas at Austin, two recordings with the renowned Naxos International Records and a TEDxSeattle talk on “The Age of the Artist Entrepreneur”. He is currently the Director of Chamber and Instrumental Music and Associate Professor of Music—Violin and Chamber Music at Seattle University as well as the Artistic Director for Chamber Music Madness, a local organization dedicated to exposing middle and high school students to chamber music through sight-reading. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Texas at Austin.
Larry Mizell Jr.
Larry Mizell Jr. is a Seattle-based person who writes the My Philosophy column for The Stranger, DJs on KEXP&squo;s Street Sounds, and is a musical artist (having done time in local hiphop outfits Cancer Rising, Mash Hall and Don’t Talk To The Cops).
Emily Nokes is The Stranger’s music editor and singer of punk/pop band Tacocat. She is also a Libra. She listens to, watches, makes, and/or thinks about music every second of every day, unless she’s thinking how to best make fun of the patriarchy until it erodes completely. Emily moved to Seattle in 2004 to study graphic design, and worked as an art director/designer before starting at The Stranger in 2012 (she still enjoys occasionally illustrating such important things as Kenny G’s ringlets or Captain Beefheart’s mustache). Her other interests include pets, candy, dancing, glitter, science fiction, baking, reality television, and Orange Julius.
Tomo Nakayama is a multiinstrumentalist, singer, and songwriter from Seattle, Washington. His music, both solo and with his band Grand Hallway, has been praised by NPR, New York Times, and KEXP. He has toured throughout the US and Japan at fests such as SXSW, CMJ, Sasquatch, and Bumbershoot. He appeared as an actor and performer in Lynn Shelton’s Sundance Grand Jury nominated film Touchy Feely opposite Ellen Page and Rosemarie DeWitt. For the release of his latest album Fog On The Lens (which he recorded during his residency at Town Hall), Tomo booked and performed 14 shows in one day at various small businesses and venues in Seattle.
Former Sub Pop VP of Licensing Jennifer Czeisler founded the label’s licensing department and ran it for sixteen years. In July of 2012, she decided she wanted to swim in different waters and put her talent towards founding Rogue Octopus, a sync licensing company focused on Northwest artists and labels, and built to help musicians land film, TV, and commercial placements. Jen’s abilities have showcased themselves in music placements for bands such as The Shins, Iron & Wine, The Postal Service, Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, CSS, and others. Jen received her B.A. in International Studies and her law degree both from the University of Washington. When she isn’t dominating in the licensing world, Jen pursues her passion for music by performing in a Pixies cover band and acting as lead vocalist in March Lions.
Jonathan Cunningham is the Manager of Youth Programs and Community Outreach at EMP Museum where he’s tasked with growing EMP’s numerous youth initiatives and creating more opportunities for community members to access and design programming at the museum. He’s a transplanted Detroiter with deep connections in Seattle’s music and arts community and is currently a Seattle Arts Commissioner. In a former life he was (and still is) an award winning music journalist and editor with content published in major outlets such as Fader, Vibe, Spin, Rollingstone.com and Village Voice Media.
Dave Dederer is best-known as a founding member of multi-platinum-selling, twice GRAMMY-nominated Seattle rock and roll group The Presidents of the United States of America. Dave no longer tours with the Presidents but remains neck-deep in music all day every day in his work managing the Presidents’ catalog, leading Amazon's music programming team and playing his guitar whenever and wherever possible.
DeVon Manier is the owner and Senior Talent Manager at the Sportn’ Life Music Group, a Seattle based boutique music management agency. Since co-founding the company as a record label in 2002, Manier has helped foster more than a dozen artists, including; Fly Moon Royalty, Nissim (formerly D.Black), Fatal Lucciauno and Spac3man. Throughout his ten years operating an indie label, he developed an excellent understanding of how to connect the dots in the music business for his clients. He remains highly driven and passionate about representing his artists and protecting their best interests.
His clients have had success with licensing music to MTV, ESPN Action Sports, Under Armour, and the documentary films The Other Side and Sonicsgate as well as the major motion picture 21 and Over. Other achievements include: Reaching top 5 CMJ radio chart positions, performing at some of the country’s most esteemed music festivals such as SXSW, Sasquatch, CMJ, Bumbershoot and The Capitol Hill Block Party. Plus sharing the stage with some of the most renowned names in the industry from NaS, Ice Cube, Macklemore, and the Wu Tang Clan, to Big Boi, Mos Def, Allen Stone, and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings.
In 2006, Manier received the Martin Luther King County Award For Excellence in Hip-Hop. He's served on the Bumbershoot Planning Committee, the Vera Project Advisory Board and is currently a member of the Seattle Music Commission, VP of the Make Music Seattle Planning Committee and an Advisory Board member of the Edmonds Community College Music & Audio Production program. A huge advocate for music from the Pacific Northwest and particularly Seattle, Manier enjoys being involved and contributing to the future of the music community.
Andrew (Andy) Roe has over 25 years experience in the music industry, including artist management, concert promotions, and marketing. His career began in the mid-1980s in the thriving LA underground music scene working as an artist manager for multiple LA club bands. Later, he became a partner in an independent promoting company, bringing national touring acts to Chico, California, and then worked in Seattle and Southern California as a marketing consultant for promoters and festivals, and artist manager for several bands, including the UK punk legends The Damned. He joined House of Blues Entertainment at their Anaheim venue in 2002, and was the point man for all show marketing in Orange County. Two years later, he took over concert marketing duties at the company’s top venue, the 6,000-seat Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. In late 2006, Andy accepted a position with AEG Live as their Regional Director of Marketing for the Pacific Northwest, overseeing all concert marketing for shows and tours in greater Washington, Oregon and Idaho, Montana and British Columbia, as well as The Showbox and Showbox SODO. Recently, he has been instrumental in establishing a new branded series for AEG Live—Marymoor Park Concerts.
After bicycling from Boston to Atlanta back in 1997, Moe Provencher decided to check out the great Pacific Northwest. For the past 15 years she's been working in Seattle as an engineer, producer, and musician in many aspects of the audio industry. From studio sessions to live sound reinforcement, film production to audiobooks, she keeps busy with clients ranging from musicians (Lori Goldston, Grand Hallway) to arts organizations (Seattle Art Museum, 4Culture, The Bushwick Book Club) to corporations (Mackie, Ampeg) and more. Moe also plays bass in Jackrabbit, and is the songwriter in the indie/folk duo MoZo which in 2014 completed a three month bicycle tour of Australia and New Zealand in support of their latest album Time Flies When You’re Having Fun.
Erik Blood is a Seattle based producer/engineer who has worked with Shabazz Palaces, THEESatisfaction, and Moondoggies to name a few. Apart from his production work with other artists, he has released 3 albums of solo material and written music for two feature films.
Martin Feveyear is a British-born record producer, mixer, recording and mastering engineer based in Seattle. Beginning as a singer, songwriter and musician, Feveyear soon began recording work for artists in both the UK and US before moving to Seattle in 1992. Together with Christian Fulghum (former bassist for Sister Psychic), he opened Jupiter Studios, an SSL equipped tracking and mixing facility in Seattle, in 1996. He has since worked with artists and groups—producing, engineering, arranging, mixing, mastering, songwriting and playing additional instruments—such as Queens of the Stone Age, Presidents of The USA, Brandi Carlile, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, Mark Lanegan, Blue Scholars, Common Market, J Pinder, The Saturday Knights, Kings Of Leon, Jesse Sykes, Tilson, Zoe Muth. Amber Pacific, Shelby Earl, Starr Anna, Duff McKagan, Natalie Portman's Shaved Head/Brite Futures, Slender Means, Mono In VCF and R.E.M. amongst many others.
Recent works include releases for Mark Pickerel, Mark Lanegan, The Redwood Plan, Victoria Contreras, Campfire OK, Davidson Hart Kingsbery, Barbara Trentalange, Radio Raheem and Hobosexual, as well as sessions for upcoming releases by Kris Orlowski, Brandi Carlile, PUSA, The Girls, Fly Moon Royalty and The Lumineers.
Joe Reineke has nearly 20 years experience as a professional producer/engineer, and a legacy as a musician that extends back even further. His musical journey began in the early ’80s punk scene and by 1990, he had formed The Meices, the legendary San Francisco pop-punk outfit who went on to release two major label albums. He went on to form Alien Crime Syndicate and relocate to Seattle, eventually opening Orbit Audio, a recording studio in Pioneer Square. Over the course of his career, he’s signed three different major label record deals, and worked with more than a few indies, releasing nine full length albums plus numerous EPs and singles. As a musician, he’s made records from London to New York to LA., and his music has also aired in over 1,000 film and television shows internationally, continuing to this day.
Growing up in Seattle with a guitarist father and a DJing cousin, Vitamin D (born Derrick Brown) was constantly surrounded by different types of music, though hip-hop was always his first love. Despite flirting with b-boying, after he saw DJ Jazzy Jeff perform, Vitamin D knew making music was what he truly wanted to pursue. He began working in Seattle’s Pharmacy studio, and soon was producing records for artists around the Northwest. Alongside Jake One, Vitamin D got his big break after the duo made beats for Blackalicious MC Gift of Gab’s 2004 solo debut, 4th Dimensional Rocketships Going Up, which brought his name into the underground rap spotlight. He has produced songs for Kendrick lamar, 50 Cent & G-Unit, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Lawrence Schwedler earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in classical guitar performance with a specialization in electronic music from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1993. He was a founding member of the Modern Arts Guitar Quartet, a chamber ensemble specializing in 20th century music, performing concerts in Europe, Mexico, Canada and the U.S. Since then he has worked as a composer, sound designer, and audio director in the video game industry for developers such as The Dreamers Guild, JVC Digital Arts Studio, and Nintendo Software Technology. Together with Claude Comair, Rory Johnston and James Phillipsen he was awarded two U.S. patents for Nintendo, one for an interactive music engine and another for a real-time wave table sound generator.
In the spring of 2011, he began working with DigiPen’s Dr. Matt Klassen to develop curricula for two new degree programs in music and sound design, at the request of DigiPen’s president, Claude Comair. In the summer of 2012, he left Nintendo to launch and direct the new programs. Schwedler says he feels lucky to be able to share the unique perspective he gained from more than a decade of making music and sound for Nintendo products with the students at DigiPen.
Jaclyn Shumate is a Game Audio Specialist based in Seattle WA. She has both created sound for and provided creative direction to teams over the past 9 years of her career. Currently she is Audio Lead at PopCap Games, where she works across multiple platforms to create and implement AAA quality audio on casual games. She strives for collaboration across the entire development team to create magical moments and a seamless, cohesive, immersive audio experience. Past jobs include Sound Designer, Audio Lead, Audio Manager, Violinist, Keytar player, and Sock Factory Worker.
Sarah was born and raised in Washington state and is living life as a designer, music lover, sports fanatic, and tattoo collector. She graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle (Web Design & Interactive Media program) in 2012. She began working as a Production Designer at the Microsoft online store. Currently she is at Rhapsody on the UX and Design team. Sarah has passion for developing high quality images and interfaces make using Rhapsody delightful—as well as achieving business goals and brand consistency.
Kasson Crooker is an electronic musician, audio technology innovator, and videogame developer. Throughout his lifelong pursuit as a musician and composer, he has worked as both an audio technology innovator at Microsoft on the recently announced HoloLens Holographic wearable computer, and as a creative project lead at Harmonix Music Systems on breakthrough games like RockBand2, Dance Central 1&2, and numerous other titles. Currently he's focused on a few different interactive music/visual projects in the Seattle area. Music and interactive audio experiences are his passion and using technology as a facilitator for new creative outlets.
Sharlese Metcalf loves music — especially the fruitful scene full of producers, bands, artist and DJs coming out of the Northwest today — and she feels lucky to be able to share that music every week on KEXP’s “Audioasis” local program. Her career in radio started when she inherited local show “Local Motion” (which she modeled after “Audioasis”) on KGRG at Green River Community College in 2002. After 3 years of hosting Local Motion, she began volunteering at KEXP on “Audioasis”. In 2007, she became the producer of the show and in July of 2012 she received the honor of becoming its host.
Peter is the Sr. Director of UX and Design at Rhapsody. He and his team delivers all of the designs for Rhapsody's mobile apps as well as creative materials and advertising. He thrives in his workday environment of music lovers, artists, and software engineers. "This might just be the best time to be alive for a music person. We have the convenience of every music streaming down from the stars, fantastic hi-fi gear to crank it on, recording and design studios in our homes, and social networks loaded with non-stop expressing artists and fans--and vinyl records are everywhere in my West Seattle neighborhood. What more is there?" Prior to joining Rhapsody, Peter was on the team that launched the amazing music store at Amazon.com as well as a member of the incredible creative team that launched the Zune music service at Microsoft. "I'm lucky to have been involved with people who are hell-bent on making sure music gets to music lovers." Peter grew up in Minneapolis and counts The Replacements, Prince, Husker Du, Soul Asylum, Bob Dylan, and The Jayhawks as first loves.
Grant Hathaway works at Onto Entertainment, a Seattle-based artist management company, where he guides the careers and day-to-day business affairs of a diverse roster of independent artists in many genres including indie rock, folk/singer-songwriter and even slam poetry. In the last three years he has worked with artists such as The Lumineers, Hey Marseilles, PHOX and Andrea Gibson. Grant has also tour managed for Onto Entertainment artists on many world tours. He began his career only six years ago at Bear Creek Studio, where he worked as an audio engineer and assistant-engineered The Lumineers’ platinum-selling debut album, among many others. He currently calls Seattle home and climbs mountains on the weekends.
Jason Baxter is the in-house publicist for Hardly Art records, a subsidiary of Sub Pop. He's been a professional writer since the age of 18, and has played in the local electronic duo USF for the past seven years. He has written and/or illustrated several comic books, and has covered music and popular culture for outlets like the Stranger, the Weekly Volcano, IGN, and Comic Book Resources. Prior to joining Hardly Art, Jason was a student DJ and Station Manager, and helped publicize events at local all-ages spaces Cairo and the Vera Project.
Astra Elane is on both the creative side and the business side of the industry. As the front woman of Seattle trio The Gods Themselves, she writes, sings and plays lead guitar. By day she’s an administrator in music publishing and licenses songs for several esteemed Seattle acts including Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Her preoccupation with music was encoded in her DNA by musical parents. At fifteen, Astra got her first guitar and started recording her songs using dad’s studio equipment. She has lived, performed and recorded throughout the U.S. and Europe. When not on stage, she’s either in the studio or working on a side project. She holds degrees in both Performance and Music Business and serves on the Board of the Recording Academy’s Pacific Northwest Chapter. Astra is a Pisces and loves science fiction.
Former Brooklynite Ava Ryerson might be a music industry lifer. Many hats have been worn in her seven-year career in the music business. It all began at a Jersey rock club, Maxwells, frequented by Yo La Tengo and where legends Nirvana, R.E.M. and The Replacements packed the small magical space. Ava worked there feeding bands dinner throughout college and soon realized her calling was working with artists. From there she went on to work for Sony Music and with help from her mentors, women execs in the biz, she moved on to RED to work in marketing and then as a publicist for independent label and artist clients. Five years in the NYC grind led her to seek the grayer pastures and mountains of the PNW. She relocated to Seattle to set up a satellite RED office as a sales and marketing rep to Amazon, Rhapsody, Microsoft Xbox and Starbucks. Since her departure from the record biz in 2014, Ava has worked on several projects like pop-up shows, vintage markets and personal stylist. Most recently Ava was hired as the Talent Buyer at Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Seattle. She's currently working to revitalize their live space Cavern Club booking original local and national talent. Ava says she feels blessed to have rooted in Seattle and plans to open her own small rock club and retail space with the goal of preserving genuine art and music in this rapidly growing city.
Bobby McHugh loves making art projects with film and video, especially music videos. Deeply embedded in the Northwest DIY music video creators scene, his resume includes pieces for Chastity Belt, Dude York, La Luz, The Head and the Heart, Fences, Sera Cahoone, Witch Gardens and the list goes on. As a director he has premiered videos on Gorilla vs. Bear, MTV, Vice and The Stranger. And when he isn't making pieces or working full time as a Producer at World Famous, he curates a showcase of locally made music videos with his good friend Sharlese Metcalf (KEXP) at the Northwest Film Forum, called Videoasis. Jazmyn Scott is the Founder & Operator of The Town Entertainment; which presents, produces & promotes live music events, handles booking and management for select Seattle artists & bands and collaborates with many well-known entities in the Seattle music scene and beyond. Jazmyn is a veteran arts promoter and producer. From an early age Jazmyn worked in event producing and promotion, stage management, artist relations, grassroots outreach and special events through her work and involvement with Seattle Young People’s Project and Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center. Noted projects include: Bring in da Noise/Bring in da Funk Seattle outreach 1998, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre Seattle Committee 2003 and The Seattle presentation of The MAAFA Suite and Sankofa Theatre 2001–04.
Jazmyn and The Town Entertainment played a pivotal role in the creation, branding and marketing of Seattle’s newest movement; 50 Next: Seattle Hip-Hop Worldwide, a digital “time capsule” of Seattle Hip-Hop, created in partnership with the Seattle Center Foundation. Currently, her work with 50 Next has opened up an opportunity to curate a Seattle Hip-Hop exhibit at The Museum of History & Industry, which will open in September 2015. Jazmyn handled outreach and promotion for Kirkland Performance Center’s presentation of Meshell Ndegeocello: A Dedication to Nina Simone, in December 2012 and grassroots outreach and events for the Seattle presentation of FELA! at the Paramount Theatre in the Spring of 2013. Jazmyn and The Town Entertainment also handle marketing and PR for Seattle band and production company, Big World Breaks.

After graduating from Michigan State University, Mark Cunningham moved to Chicago to begin his career at Aware Records where he worked with such artists as John Mayer, Train, Mat Kearney and Five For Fighting. In 2006, he began managing Brandi Carlile and in 2013 Cunningham and Carlile joined Red Light Management. In July 2014, Cunningham moved to Seattle and opened a Red Light office where he works with Carlile, John Butler Trio, Hollow Wood and 3-Time Grammy winning producer/engineer/mixer Trina Shoemaker.
Raylene Castillote is a young creative simply passionately living life with all the curiosity for what’s in store for her. She graduated Cum Laude from Seattle University in June 2014 with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Sociology, and loves being a positive light to the budding youth. As an Events + Social Media Coordinator, Raylene has worked closely with Seattle performer + creative producer, Hollis, and pop-synth band trio, The Flavr Blue, since 2013. Currently she is an intern for NYC’s crowd-funded, start-up culture magazine that is committed to rejecting the mainstream, HRDCVR, and online education platform that connects minority talent to digital-media industry opportunities, 2020Shift. She loves music and will always melt for 90s R&B, writing random opinion pieces and poetry, eating, and endless sarcasm.
After working in Seattle area public radio for over a decade, Sabrina joined the Doer Team at Brown Paper Tickets in 2011. She directs their Low Power FM radio support initiative and works throughout North America on equitable community development through media. This mainly takes the shape of how we pay for the media we want, how we design institutions for community engagement, and how we build public Internet utilities (for example, the Upgrade Seattle campaign). She serves on the boards of the Seattle Globalist and the Alliance for Community Media - Northwest Region.

Evan Johnson moved from West St. Paul, Minnesota to attend Seattle University in 2009 and has been involved in music ever since. During his time in school, he coordinated the annual on-campus music festival and also interned for in the development department at KEXP. After graduation, he was a programming intern for One Reel/Bumbershoot and later an intern for Neumos and Barboza. After months of assisting with booking at those venues, he became the booker and marketing manager at The Rendezvous in Belltown.
Born and raised on Oahu, Daniel Pak is the singer-songwriter and producer of Seattle pop reggae band Kore Ionz. The group has shared the stage with The Wailers, Toots and the Maytals, Sly and Robbie, and Steel Pulse. Seattle Weekly describes Pak’s vocal style as sounding “like it was birthed right in the heart of New Orleans, with enough jazz heart to lead a Jamaican revolution of peace and love.” The latest music video for “Starship,” off the Feels Good EP, premiered on The Huffington Post. Pak is also the co-founder of Totem Star, a nonprofit that uses the structure of a record label to empower youth with life skills through artist development, live performance, and music business experience. Pak is the father of two boys and loves being a school dad.
Jackie Wade has been drawn to the Seattle music scene since she was 13. Volunteering, interning, and advancing for One Reel’s Bumbershoot has led her to work with Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group. She is one of the few chapter ambassadors of GRAMMY U in the Pacific Northwest. She is a sophomore at Seattle University studying Management and is looking to pursue a career event coordination in the music industry.
Brady Harvey is the staff photographer at EMP Museum. Her work has been featured in the Seattle Times, The Stranger, Seattle Weekly, the KEXP Blog, on billboards , posters and more. She has also worked within the local music community for the last nine years, photographing bands and shows for various publications and performs in local bands Tea Cozies and Red Ribbon.
Sam Paye is a Liberian born music producer and is the owner and executive producer at Bomb Recordings—a Seattle based pop/dance label. A software engineer by day, he was part of the design engineering team that introduced the Microsoft Surface Remix Project where he was able to combine his passion for music with his passion for technology. Prior to launching his label, Sam was a touring artist and DJ having worked with and shared the bill with some of dance music’s most renowned acts and DJs including Uberzone, Dieselboy, Gus Gus, FC Kahuna, General Midi, Meat Katie, The Bassbin Twins, Hyper, etc. He has over 18 years of experience releasing commercial music and his works has made it on to numerous TV shows, national ads and video game titles.
